MJ Phillips has finally suited up for the Petro Gazz Angels Saturday.

Coming off a stint with the Gwangju Al Peppers in the Korean V. League (KOVO), Phillips saw action for the Angels in their last elimination round match versus the Nxled Chameleons in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The 6-foot middle blocker came off the bench, entering in the opening set with Petro Gazz trailing 17-20 to Nxled. The Angels dropped the first frame, 22-25, as of press time.

Phillips arrived in Manila from Korea last April 16, but she did not suit up for the team in their past two outings against the Cignal HD Spikers and the Galeries Tower Highrisers.

The former PVL Best Middle Blocker is the first Filipina to be drafted in the Korean V-League, after she was drafted fifth overall by the Gwangju at the Asian Quota Draft last year.

Phillips is set to try her luck once again in the 2024 KOVO draft. She will be joined by Creamline’s Tots Carlos and Chery Tiggo’s Mylene Paat in the tryouts on April 28 to May 1 in Jeju.
