Just four days after his jersey was retired by the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA, Arwind Santos was present during Far Eastern University's stunning sweep of National University, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23, in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Saturday, May 4.

Santos was seen cheering on the Lady Tamaraws throughout the match as FEU pulled off the victory to force a do-or-die match.

For the former SMB forward, it was all about giving back to his alma mater, who gave him the opportunity in the UAAP, allowing him to turn into a Philippine basketball icon, with an MVP win in the PBA on top of nine championships.

As a Tamaraw, Arwind was a three-time UAAP champion, as well as a two-time MVP and Finals MVP.

Santos also wanted to show support to Anton Montinola, FEU's representative to the UAAP board, who was also present during his jersey retirement last Wednesday, May 1.

"Siyempre dahil si sir Anton [Montinola] pumunta nung [jersey] retirement ko, ngayon wala akong masyadong ginagawa kaya sinama ko yung pamilya ko [para manood]," he said.

"And besides, yung anak ko future volleyball player din, pwede maging player din ng FEU. Kaya pinapanood ko siya para makakuha ng experience at the same time," Santos added in a short interview with One Sports.

With FEU moving just one win away from reaching the UAAP Finals for the first time since Season 80, Santos is hoping that the support towards the athletics program continues.

"Nagpapa-salamat ako sa FEU community ngayon dahil sobrang supportive nila sa mga athletes natin. Yung program natin maganda,  sana ma-maintain natin at pagyamanin pa natin at the same time," said Santos.
