Best Outside Spiker Angel Canino powered La Salle to a strong finish in the UAAP Season 87 as the Lady Spikers hauled four major individual citations.

Canino, the Season 85 Rookie-MVP, earned 250 ranking points (RP) to join National University’s Bella Belen (381 RP) in the outside hitter slot. It marks another accolade for the DLSU star who continues to be one of the league’s most consistent performers.

Canino was not alone in representing the green and white, as La Salle’s Amie Provido and Shevana Laput also bagged awards.

Provido was named one of the Best Middle Blockers alongside UP’s Niña Ytang, who secured her third consecutive win in the category.

Meanwhile, Laput emerged as the clear winner for Best Opposite Spiker with 275 RP, nearly 100 points ahead of UST’s Reg Jurado.

Lyka De Leon completed La Salle’s impressive haul, after edging two-time winner Detdet Pepito of UST to win Best Libero honors. De Leon topped the reception category with 47.3% and placed fourth in digs to claim the title with 210 RP over Pepito’s 202.

Despite La Salle’s multiple awards, it was NU’s Bella Belen who continues to etch her name into the UAAP history books.

Belen has been officially named UAAP Season 87 Most Valuable Player ahead of Game 2 of the Finals, joining Alyssa Valdez and Ailyn Ege as the only athletes to win the MVP plum thrice in women’s volleyball league history.

Adamson’s super rookie Shaina Nitura took home the Rookie of the Year plum after her historic campaign.

Rounding out the awards is NU’s Lams Lamina, who reclaims her Best Setter title from Season 84.
