“There was an idea.” It’s just fitting to start this with a quote from Marvel’s Nick Fury alluding to The Avengers. But, also, really, this is just an idea. It’s a damn good one, though.

Imagine the triple threat of the “Triple J.” Justin Brownlee, Jalen Green, and Jordan Clarkson playing together in their Gilas Pilipinas uniforms.

The idea of the Brownlee-Green-Clarkson trio popped up when Barangay Ginebra San Miguel coach Tim Cone was having a conversation with former PBA commissioner Noli Eala on the latter's sports program, Power & Play.

Cone was talking about how the competition in Southeast Asia has changed. He particularly pointed out Indonesia's basketball team and how it is running with three naturalized players.

“All the naturalized players are coming in, we are realizing that the competition has really changed, and Indonesia, three naturalized players,” Cone pointed out.

Then Cone said what every Filipino basketball fans have been dreaming of for a long time.

“Imagine if were allowed three naturalized players. Justin Brownlee, Jalen Green, Jordan Clarkson. I mean we could put a really good team together. They would be an expensive team, but we could be a really good team. That’s basically what Indonesia is doing, and they’re good," he said.

Technically,  Brownlee, Green, and Clarkson can happen. Any player with a Philippine passport can play for the country in the SEA Games.

Will it happen? Probably not. It's free to dream, though. After all, The Avengers started with an idea. This can too.
