Gilas zoomed to a scintillating start on the way to a 106-53 win over Chinese Taipei in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers Sunday at home.
Justin Brownlee led all scorers in blue with 26 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists.
Kai Sotto also asserted his might inside the paint as he poured a Gilas Men career-high of 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds. He also had five assists and three blocks in over 23 minutes of play.
Calvin Oftana shot three triples on his way to 13 points and five rebounds, while Dwight Ramos added 12 points, three rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
With a boisterous Filipino crowd at the PhilSports Arena behind them, Gilas jumped to a 26-13 opening salvo.

Gilas kicked into higher gear in the second half, leading by as many as 54 points after Ramos’ undergoal stab off a Scottie Thompson dime.
Cheg Liu paced Chinese Taipei with 13 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the three-pointer. He also had two rebounds and three steals.
