Why fix it when it ain’t broken?
Gilas Pilipinas did what they were supposed to do and then some as they outclassed Lebanon in the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The impressive win had everything to do with the 12 guys that donned the Gilas blue. There were long range bombers in Jordan Heading, Ray Parks, and Mason Amos. The team had speed, hustle, and athleticism, courtesy of guys like Scottie Thompson and Jamie Malonzo. Of course, there were also those who could just flat out ball like Justin Brownlee, Dwight Ramos, and June Mar Fajardo.
For tomorrow’s contest at the Philippine Arena, we’re going to see a lot of the same names for a number of good reasons. Here’s Team Philippines’ Final 12 that will take on Team Jordan.
The frontcourt includes Justin Brownlee, June Mar Fajardo, Jamie Malonzo, Mason Amos, and Kevin Quiambao. Tweener Dwight Ramos will also reprise his role. The backcourt meanwhile, is made up of Scottie Thompson, Thirdy Ravena, Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks, Jordan Heading, and Cjay Perez.
The only noticeable tweak was the omission of Calvin Oftana and the inclusion of Kevin Quiambao. Obviously, coach Chot Reyes and his staff saw the need for the slight adjustment that's why they pulled the trigger. After Gilas’ tremendous showing last Friday, we don’t think anyone should be complaining.
There are three things you can look forward to with this lineup against Jordan.
1. They’re going to try and shoot the lights out once again.
2. They’re going to play fast and aggressive on both ends of the floor.
3. They’re going to go all out to complete the sweep in front of the Filipino fans.
