Everybody wants to see Alyssa back.
Filipino volleyball icon Alyssa Valdez is still recovering from the knee injury she suffered late last year. Her team, the Creamline Cool Smashers, meanwhile, is in the finals of the PVL All-Filipino Conference. For sure, she is itching to get back on the court and help her squad win another title.
Likewise, there are many others who are waiting for The Phenom’s return. Her countless fans, of course, are wishing for her speedy recovery. And, just recently, an international volleyball superstar has signed up as among her well-wishers.
That international superstar is Japan’s Yuki Ishikawa, who is currently playing for Allianz Power Volley Milano in the Italian Volleyball League. Valdez happily posted a recorded video of Ishikawa wishing her the best as she works on her much-anticipated comeback.
The Japanese star is said to be the first volleyball player to have a wax figure in Japan. His sculpture is displayed at Madame Tussauds Tokyo. With that in mind, it is kind of a big deal having someone of Ishikawa’s stature shouting out the decorated Filipina outside hitter.
But Valdez is a big deal herself. Needless to say, this is a classic case of ‘game recognizes game.’
