The Cotabato Spikers may have settled for silver in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference after losing to Cignal HD Spikers in the finals, but they are taking home one more trophy, as their ace Jao Umandal wins his first Spikers’ Turf Most Valuable Player award on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Umandal was the second-leading scorer of the Open Conference with a total of 236 points built on 203 attackes, 22 blocks, and 11 aces.

The UST alum also displayed an impressive all-around game, finishing inside the top five of all scoring categories. He was third in attacks, fourth in blocks, and fourth in service aces.

The undefeated champions Cignal HD Spikers, meanwhile, have four players winning individual awards. The most by any team in this tilt.

JP Bugaoan and Ysay Marasigan are taking home once again the Best Middle Blocker and Best Opposite Spiker plums, respectively.

Bugaoan led the league with 37 blocks, while Marasigan is ninth league-wide in terms of spiking efficiency.

Their teammate, Manuel Sumanguid III, won’t be left behind, as he was named Best Libero after topping the receiving and digging rankings.

Wendel Miguel, another HD Spiker, finished 10th in scoring on his way to be hailed as one of this season’s two Best Outside Spikers.

The other Best Outside Speaker honor goes to D’Navigators Iloilo's Jade Disquitado, who was the conference's top scorer with 293 points.

Like Cignal, Iloilo has multiple awardees. Disquitado's teammate Nas Gwaza is taking the other Best Middle Blocker award after ranking second in the league in blocks, while their playmaker JM Apolinario is named as the tournament’s Best Setter.
