Things got ugly between the camps of Mayweather and Gotti.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s recent exhibition match turned into chaos after his opponent, John Gotti III, instigated a major brawl by persistently throwing punches even after the referee had declared the fight over.
The incident occurred when referee Kenny Bayless intervened and halted the fight during the sixth round.
Leading up to the stoppage, both fighters were constantly exchanging verbal insults, creating a tense atmosphere that prompted Bayless to prematurely conclude the bout to prevent further escalation.
However, Gotti disregarded the referee's decision to end the fight and continued to throw punches at the Pretty Boy, prompting the respective teams of both boxers to storm the ring in an effort to protect their fighters.
Footages also showed that the physical altercations persisted for an extended period even after the two boxers were escorted out of the ring. The fracas spilled outside the ring area.
It's really a shame as Money was wearing Philippine flag-inspired trunks during the match on the same day as the country celebrates Independence Day. Floyd's reasons for choosing the outfit, however, has yet to be confirmed.
Mayweather, who retired from professional boxing in 2017, has since engaged in several prominent exhibition matches in the following years.
Gotti, on the other had, was participating in his third boxing match where he entered the fight with an undefeated record of 2-0.
Both camps have yet to issue a statement or comment on the brawl.
