Too fast, too strong, too good.

That basically summed up Naoya Inoue’s 10th round knockout of Marlon Tapales in their battle for the super bantamweight division’s undisputed crown in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday.

But as great as The Monster looked, it would be wrong to say that the Filipino warrior didn’t put up a challenge. Tapales had his moments and forced Inoue to make adjustments throughout the fight.

Fans were treated to a scintillating show, not only by the newly crowned 122-pound undisputed king, but also by the courageous Filipino pug.

It was a post-Christmas Day gift for the boxing community, if you will.

Many gave a special shoutout to The Nightmare for his gallant stand against the champion from Japan.

What a great fight! Marlon Tapales is a true warrior!

For one fan, Inoue’s fighting style, especially against elite boxers continues to be a visual masterpiece.

Another said Tapales was a tougher challenge for Inoue than Stephen Fulton, the previously unbeaten super bantamweight champion. He was stopped by The Monster in eight rounds.

There were also those who gave props to both fighters for their thrilling slugfest in the fifth round.

This tweet, meanwhile, accurately described the 10-round showdown.

In the coming days, Inoue will likely map out his next steps toward making more history.

As for Tapales, he has no choice but to get back to the drawing board. But with his commendable showing against The Monster, offers for big-money fights will likely still be on the table for the pride of Lanao del Norte.
