Philippine basketball fans are sending prayers and well-wishes after Gilas Pilipinas high-flier Rhenz Abando sustained an injury in the Korean Basketball League.

Abando, the Asian import for the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, will be out for at least four weeks after suffering multiple spinal fractures, a wrist sprain, and a concussion in the game against the Goyang Sono Skygunners last Thursday.

"Just read about Rhenz! Wow, scary. Our prayers are with him," tweeted Gilas Pilipinas and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel coach Tim Cone.

Chot Reyes, who was Abando's coach for Gilas during the FIBA World Cup, also sent his prayers.

In a video shared by Korean basketball blogger @baekpd1983, Abando was leaping for a rebound when Goyo import Chinanu Onuaku was seen pushing the Filipino baller with both hands.

Abando fell on his back, and the back of his head hit the floor as well.

He suffered lumbar vertebrae 3 and 4 fractures, wrist ligament sprains, and a concussion, according to Korean sports website Jumpball. They quoted an Anyang official saying Abando would need at least four weeks to recover. The concussion would also need monitoring after two to three days.

But @baekpd1983 assured fans Abando would recover.

"Dear Philippine brothers, South Korea has one of the world's leading sports rehabilitation hospitals. Without fail, Rhenz Abando will recover and return in good health," he tweeted.

Jumpball also reported that a KBL meeting would be held this Saturday regarding Onuaku's unsportsmanlike conduct.

The incident also put into question the referees' management of the game.

Goyang Sono, which signed up Filipino veteran shooter Alex Cabagnot as an Asian import, won the game 85-81, to halt their eight-game skid.
