Jaja Santiago is set to spread her wings, training with the vaunted Japan women's national volleyball team.
Jaja Santiago has been called up by the Japan women's national volleyball team to participate as a trainee.
The Japanese Volleyball Association announced the development on its official website on Friday afternoon.
The 6-foot-5 middle blocker was specifically named in the announcement alongside Cuban Melissa Valdez of the PFU Bluecats as trainees in the volleyball camp.
While Santiago continues to process her Japanese citizenship, her husband, Japanese mentor Taka Minowa, is lauding the development.
"She'll join the Japan national team training camp. She hasn't [gone] naturalization yet, but this opportunity [is a] really big step for her dream. Welcome to [the] Japan national team" Minowa posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Santiago recently led the JT Marvelous to a silver-medal finish in the Japan V.League, where she also won as Best Middle Blocker.
