Despite being a last-minute replacement, Arah Panique is looking to help Alas Pilipinas in their AVC Challenge Cup campaign.
After receiving a last-minute call-up for Alas Pilipinas, National University rookie Arah Panique welcomes the challenge of contributing to a stacked national team roster for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.
Panique came in as a replacement for Casiey Dongallo, who had fractured a bone on her right wrist, forcing her to sit out the tournament that starts this week.
Despite coming to the national team later than the rest, the 20-year-old opposite hitter is thankful for the opportunity given to her by coach Jorge de Brito, and the help she's received so far from her teammates.
"For me, honored lang talaga ako kasi kinuha ako ulit ni coach Jorge for AVC. Sobrang thankful ako sa mga ates na nandiyan lagi samin na nagi-guide and pinupush kami na kayanin every training," Panique said during the Alas Pilipinas team presentation on Monday, May 20.
As the youngest player on the team, Panique will seek to gain as much experience as possible from the tournament.
But Panique is also looking to contribute in whatever way she can to the national team's success.
"Siguro 'yung ipakita ko lang ano 'yung pinapkita ko sa UAAP. 'Yung eagerness din is i-apply ko para makatulong and focus inside the court, communication din lalo na bago lang kami nag-sama. Actually, two days lang ako nakasama sa training, so siguro itatrabaho ko 'yung kailangan kong trabahuin," said Panique.
