Philippine tennis sensation Alex Eala is keeping a level head after back-to-back early exits in her two WTA tournaments in China. Her recent one was in a doubles match at the Ningbo Open earlier this week.

After falling in her opening singles match in the same tournament, Eala and partner Liang En-shou qualified to the quarterfinals after a walkover victory in the Round of 16. But against the fourth seed pair of Alexandra Panova and Giuliana Olmos, Eala and Liang couldn’t catch a break.

They fell in the quarterfinals match on Thursday, October 17, in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

Before this, the Filipina was also sent packing in the Round of 64 of the Wuhan Open, losing to Katerina Siniakova, 6-3, 6-1.

After the string of struggles, Eala is continuing to have a positive mindset.

“Growth doesn’t always come easy. Good news is there’s always next week to try again and come back stronger.” wrote Eala on social media.

She’s also looking forward to a break to the end of the season when she comes home to the Philippines in a couple of weeks.

“T-minus two weeks until I’m back home in MNL,” she wrote.

Despite her recent struggles, Eala has had her share of success this year — highlighted by a double crown at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain back in July. There, she won both the singles and doubles tournament.
