Kai Sotto came up big for the Koshigaya Alphas in a convincing win over the Shiga Lakes in Japan B.LEAGUE action.
Filipino big man Kai Sotto registered another double-double as he was among five players in double-digit scoring for Koshigaya in the Alphas' handy 89-62 win over the Shiga Lakes in 2024-25 Japan B.LEAGUE action on Sunday.
Sotto had 16 points on a highly efficient 7-of-11 shooting clip, to go along with 14 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks in a complete game for the Alphas, who got a measure of revenge for their Finals loss in the B2 last season to Shiga.
LJ Peak was the top scorer for Koshigaya with 20 markers, along with three rebounds and three assists.
Koshigaya put on the clamps against Shiga in the second half where they limited their foes to just 15 points across the two quarters.
This is Koshigaya’s seventh win of the year as the Alphas improved to 7-18.
Elsewhere, Matthew Wright had 23 points in a win for the Kawasaki Brave Thunders against the Ibaraki Robots, 89-78, at the Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.
Wright played 33 minutes of action as he also had three rebounds and three assists with the Brave Thunders completing a weekend sweep over Ibaraki.
Ray Parks Jr., for his part, had seven points and three rebounds in 22 minutes of play with the Osaka Evessa’s 84-80 escape act of the Akita Northern Happinets.
Osaka improved to 14-12 and are 1-1 with Akita for the weekend.
In the other games, Dwight Ramos came off of the bench to score seven points along with two rebounds, and two assists in the Levanga Hokkaido’s close 75-74 loss to the Seahorses Mikawa. Hokkaido are at 9-17.
AJ Edu had six points and seven boards in a 76-70 loss by the Nagasaki Velca against the Sendai 89ers, while Kiefer Ravena chipped in seven markers and four dimes as the Yokohama B-Corsairs fell to the league leading San-En NeoPhoenix, 87-72.
