Veteran Filipino import Kiefer Ravena misses just one shot in more than 23 minutes of play as Yokohama scores a convincing victory over Nagasaki in the B.LEAGUE.
Kiefer Ravena came out with a team-high 21 points on an efficient shooting clip to lead the Yokohama B-Corsairs past the Nagasaki Velca, 90-67, securing a B.LEAGUE weekend sweep at the Happiness Arena in Nagasaki on Sunday.
Ravena shot 6-of-7 in the field to make up his 21 points and also had two rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the convincing victory. 21 points are his season-high, so far.
“It was a good game for us, we continue to play as a team and everybody stepped up like yesterday’s game,” said Ravena after the match.
Yokohama created distance against its foes in the second half first with a pivotal third period where the B-Corsairs outscored the Velca, 22-12. Yokohama also led by as many as 24 points in the rousing victory.
The B-Corsairs were firing on all cylinders as they shot above 50 percent, going 32-of-55 from the field. They also poured in 11 three pointers — three of which were from Ravena. The Filipino was a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Ravena’s 21 points was the highlight of a team win that saw three others breach double-digit scoring.
Gary Clark backstopped Ravena with 16 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Damien Inglis added a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards.
Meanwhile, the Velca leaned on the 19 points of Mark Smith in the losing effort.
Filipino import AJ Edu had limited touches on the ball, taking only one shot despite playing for 21 minutes. He did have four rebounds, one steal, and one block.
Yokohama thus end the weekend on a two-game win streak for an 11-17 record, while the Velca skid to their third straight defeat and are at 13-15.
