Dwight Ramos starred off the bench as Levanga Hokkaido scored arguably their best win of the ongoing B.LEAGUE season over the Chiba Jets.
Dwight Ramos provided a spark off of the bench to lead the Levanga Hokkaido past the higher-ranked Chiba Jets, 70-64, snapping a five-game losing slump at the LaLa Arena in Chiba on Sunday.
Ramos did not start for Levanga but finished with a team-high 17 points, leading Hokkaido to arguably their best win of the ongoing B.LEAGUE season. Dwight came in midway through the first quarter where the visitors built a commanding lead over Chiba, 30-14.
Despite losing the next three quarters in terms of scoring, Ramos was steady for his team — scoring nine of his points in the fourth quarter where they stymied the Jets, who threatened to mount a comeback.
Even as he missed two key free throws late, Levanga were able to come away victorious thanks to crashing the offensive board and a final shot from Thomas Welsh.
Apart from his 17 points, Ramos also had three rebounds, and one assist.
Welsh had 15 points and 22 boards in the big win, which propelled Hokkaido to 10-18.
Meanwhile, Christopher Smith had a double-double of 18 points and 10 boards to lead the Jets in the losing effort. Yuki Togashi finished with 17, while Yuta Watanabe added 12 points.
Chiba has now lost three of its last four games for an 18-10 record.
Elsewhere, Ray Parks Jr. had nine points, four rebounds, and five assists in the Osaka Evessa’s 94-83 victory over the Kyoto Hannaryz.
Osaka improved to 15-13 for the year with the win.
