Matthew Wright and the Kawasaki Brave Thunders continue their recent upward rise as they nipped the Sendai 89ers, 77-71, at the Kawasaki Todoroki Arena, winning their third game in the last four outings on Sunday.

Wright, who played the heaviest minutes for Kawasaki, had 20 points built on four three pointers to pace the Brave Thunders to just their seventh win of the season.

After seizing control of the game in the second quarter, Wright played a key role in the clutch, hitting a triple which overturned a two-point deficit and gave Kawasaki a 69-68 lead with 2:02 ticks left.

He then also made a layup with 37 seconds remaining, which contributed to Kawasaki’s 14-3 finishing kick to take the victory.

For good measure, Wright also had three rebounds, and one assist in the win.

Rosco Allen backstopped Wright’s 20 points with 19 markers, seven boards, and three assists.

Nathan Boothe flirted with the triple-double for Sendai in the losing effort with 16 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Kai Sotto, who was nine points away from breaching the 1,000-point mark in the B.LEAGUE, exited after just three minutes in the Koshigaya Alphas’ 79-77 heartbreaker against the Seahorses Mikawa.

Sotto exited in the first quarter after an injury, which made things difficult for the Alphas who are now losers of two straight games and are 8-20 for the season.
