The B.LEAGUE showdown between the Shiga Lakes and the league-leading San-en NeoPhoenix was stopped in the third quarter after Shiga's import collapsed to the floor.
A scary on-court episode marred the Shiga Lakes-San-en NeoPhoenix game Sunday in the B.LEAGUE, causing the cancellation of the match towards the end of the third quarter.
After a NeoPhoenix basket with 1:12 left in the third quarter, Shiga’s Javier Carter appeared to collapse on the floor.
The exact moment of Carter falling to the floor was not caught during the broadcast, but players of both teams quickly surrounded the American import as officials and medical personnel quickly attended to his needs.
The B.LEAGUE’s livestream did not show a replay of the incident.
In a separate update by the Lakes, the team said that Carter’s condition stabilized following treatment and he was taken to the hospital for further examination.
At the time of stoppage, the 2-25 Lakes were leading the 23-4 NeoPhoenix, 59-57. Carter was on the court for just a little over six minutes when the incident occurred.
