Filipino import JD Cagulangan was able to make an immediate impact with the Suwon KT Sonicboom as he played an all-around game, albeit in a 78-63 loss to the Seoul Samsung Thunders in their home arena during the 2024-25 KBL season on Saturday, January 11.

Having arrived to Korea only just this week, Cagulangan wasted no time in making his professional debut, playing a decent 22 minutes in his first game out.

Cagulangan played in the last three quarters of the game to finish with seven points, four rebounds, nine assists, and five steals, but could not do enough to make it a winning start for his career with the Sonicboom.

Seoul, which features Filipino import Justin Gutang, used a third-quarter surge where the Thunders outscored the home team, 19-9, to create distance after close game through halftime.

Gutang, for his part, had 11 points on a 3-of-3 shooting clip along with one rebound, four assists, two steals, and one block.

Five different Seoul players finished in double digit scoring to connive for the win against Suwon.

Suwon has lost back-to-back games and is now at 15-12.

Meanwhile, Seoul extended its win streak to three for a 10-17 record.

Cagulangan hopes to get his first professional win when he faces good pal Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers on Monday, January 13.
