The Kawasaki Brave Thunders ride big games from their imports, including Matthew Wright, for a rare win this season in the B.LEAGUE.
Kawasaki notched just its eighth win of the season as Matthew Wright helped the Brave Thunders past the Fighting Eagles Nagoya, 73-66, at the Nagoya Inae Sports Center in the 2024-25 Japan B.LEAGUE season on Sunday.
Wright played the most minutes for Kawasaki as he finished with 19 points as the team’s second-leading scorer for the game. He also had one rebound, two assists, two steals, and one block in the victory.
The Filipino import’s scoring output backstopped Sacha Killeya-Jones’ double-double of 22 points and 11 boards.
Kawasaki gained momentum after the halftime break as the Brave Thunders outscored their foes, 39-26, after trailing at the half, 34-40.
Kawasaki improved to 8-22 while the Fighting Eagles are 14-16.
Elsewhere, other Filipino imports were on the losing ends of their respective games.
Kiefer Ravena had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the Yokohama B-Corsairs’ 103-89 loss to the Ryukyu Golden Kings.
The B-Corsairs are on a two-game losing streak and are at 11-19 for the season.
Ray Parks Jr., for his part, struggled with his shooting in a 75-71 loss by the Osaka Evessa to the Gunma Crane Thunders at the Ookini Arena Maishima.
Parks had nine points on 3-of-13 shooting along with four boards, and three assists. Osaka is now at .500 at 15-15.
In the other game, Dwight Ramos came off of the bench for five points in Levanga Hokkaido’s 84-68 loss to the Kyoto Hannaryz. He also had two rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Hokkaido is at 10-20 so far this season.
