Carl Tamayo is starting to establish himself in the KBL, with his round 3 MVP honors the first major personal milestone for the LG Sakers.
For his recent strong play, Changwon LG Sakers’ Carl Tamayo got rewarded big-time in the Korean Basketball League.
Tamayo took home the MVP honors for round 3 of the ongoing KBL season, the league announced Wednesday, January 15.
Through his last six games, Tamayo averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 29 minutes of play.
That stretch saw the Gilas Pilipinas stalwart fire back-to-back 30-point games, including a career-high of 37 points against the Seoul Samsung Thunders.
Tamayo followed that up with a 31-point outing in a win against the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, before emerging victorious over JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT Sonicboom.

Currently, the LG Sakers are tied for third in the team standings alongside Daegu KOGAS Pegasus holding identical 16-13 records. The Seoul SK Knights (23-5) and the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (20-8) lead the league at the halfway point.
Seoul's star import Jameel Warney was MVP in rounds 1 and 2.
