Hong Kong Eastern defeated the San Miguel Beermen for the third straight time in less than a month.
Hong Kong Eastern nabbed its third-straight victory over the San Miguel Beermen in less than a month after securing another dominating win in the EASL, 84-74, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Wednesday, January 15.
Eastern stormed to an early 9-0 lead and never looked back, building a huge 30-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
With momentum on their side, the Hong Kong-based squad continued to pounce on the Beermen, building its biggest lead at 75-52 early in the fourth quarter.
San Miguel managed to put up a fight after going on a huge run to cut the lead to just seven points at 70-77 with 1:30 to go in the game before Kobey Lam nailed the dagger three to seal Eastern’s third win in the tournament.
Import Cameron Clark led the way for Eastern with 25 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Chris McLaughlin added 15 markers and 18 boards in the win.
Eastern will play the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots in their final game, which could determine which team will make it to the semifinals.
On the other hand, San Miguel will look to their EASL campaign with a win when they face the Hiroshima Dragonflies on February 12.
