Ethan Alvano flexed his MVP form as he finished only a point shy of tying his career high, leading the Wonju DB Promy to a 99-92 win against the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the 2024-25 KBL season at the Wonju Gymnasium last Jan. 24.

Alvano, who has been averaging 17 points per game this season, dropped 32 points built on 12-of-19 scoring to pace the DB Promy in the victory after seizing control of the game in the first quarter.

En route to their third win in the last four games, Wonju was ahead at the end of the first period by double digits, 32-21.

Apart from his scoring, Alvano was also everywhere else on the floor as he flirted with the triple-double with seven rebounds and nine assists.

Lee Gwan-Hee backstopped the Fil-Am import with 25 markers in the convincing victory.

Justin Gutang, who bested Alvano in the All-Star Game, ended up with 15 points, four boards, and nine assists in the losing effort for Seoul.

Wonju improved to .500 with a 16-16 slate and is now on a two-game win streak.

Seoul, for its part, lost a third game in a row and is falling behind for a spot in the playoffs with an 11-20 record for the year.

In the other game on Friday, JD Cagulangan’s 13 points was for naught as the Suwon KT Sonicboom fell to league cellar-dwellers Anyang Jung Kwan Jang, 93-72.

After clinching his first win in his professional career the last time out, Cagulangan couldn’t make it two in a row as the Sonicboom fell flat against a lower-ranked team.

Deonte Burton paced Anyang with 27 points and seven rebounds in the victory that snapped a two-game losing slump.

Javi Gomez de Liaño was scoreless for the Red Boosters but had three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in the victory.
