World No. 1 and reigning Volleyball Nations League (VNL) champion Italy delivered a masterclass, sweeping the Netherlands 3-0 to book a spot in the women’s volleyball quarterfinals.
The Italian women’s volleyball team was in top form from the onset of their Olympic Games Paris 2024 match, winning the extended first set against the Netherlands, 29-27.
They maintained their dominance in the second set, clinching a 25-18 victory.
Beginning the third set with a commanding 2-0 lead, outside hitter Nika Daalderop and the Dutch team struggled to keep pace as Italy continued to execute with precision and power.
The reigning Volleyball Nations League (VNL) champions won the third set, 25-19, and the match.
Ekaterina Antropova stood out for Italy with 33 points, built around 30 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.
Before moving on to the quarterfinals, Italy will face World No. 3 Turkey on August 4.
