John Cabang Tolentino was supposed to compete in the men's 110m repechage but announced he was withdrawing due to an injury.
Filipino hurdler John Cabang Tolentino pulls out of the men's 110m hurdles repechage event of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Tuesday due to an injury.
The athlete posted his apology on social media, roughly an hour before his event started.
"I am so sorry. I'm not gonna be able to run due to an injury," Cabang Tolentino posted on his Instagram Story, along with a photo of his bag and shirt label.
"Thanks to all the people who supported me. Laban Pilipinas!"
On August 4, the hurdler finished sixth in Heat 1 with a time of 13.66. It was not enough to reach the top three, who would advance to the semifinals.
Cabang Tolentino had another chance in the repechage, where only the top two in each heat would secure a slot in the semifinals.
