The Converge FiberXers might have found their next gem in PBA Draft hopeful Jolo Mendoza.

Mendoza had a standout performance as Converge dominated the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, 104-90, in the PBA On Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The former Ateneo Blue Eagle had an impressive showing as he finished with 26 points on 7-for-12 shooting from beyond the arc, to go along with 3 assists.

With most of the Converge starters sitting out the game, the 5-foot-9 shooter got a golden opportunity to show off his skills in the league—something he knows is a big blessing.

“It's such a great blessing for me,” Mendoza said during the post-game interview. “This is the closest I've gotten to playing in the PBA, so I'm just trying to make the most out of the opportunity.”

The FiberXers, and other PBA teams for that matter, will likely have their eye on Mendoza should he decide to join the PBA Draft.

Nonetheless, Mendoza knows that there is a lot to do and improve in his game.

“Malayong-malayo pa, but I'm very thankful for the opportunity kasi rare ito eh,” sid Mendoza. “Players who haven't been drafted have gotten the opportunity to play in this level of basketball, so I'm using this as a stepping stone.”

“I'm trying to see where else I can improve so I can get better moving forward," he added.

Mendoza and the rest of the FiberXers will look to continue their winning ways when they face Barangay Ginebra San Miguel next Sunday, July 16.
