The journey continues for the prolific import.
Like everyone else, San Miguel Beermen import Ivan Aska probably has gone through a lot to get to where he is now. Yet he remains grateful.
Though undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, Aska has still had a lot of success after stops at countries like Puerto Rico, Israel, and South Korea.
The 6-foot-8 forward was also hailed MVP while playing for the US Virgin Islands in the FIBA CBC Championship. And while he was a last-minute replacement for the Beermen in the PBA, he has made a good account of himself nonetheless, norming 25.3 points and 11 rebounds in leading the team to a 2-1 win-loss record.
“It took me a while to realize that my divine really gave me a gift in life. I remember the positive comments and even the negative comments growing up, but God knew my heart and soul,” he said in an Instagram post.
“I had to unlearn and relearn a lot of things in life to continue my journey.”
His teammates showed nothing but love in the comment section.
Moving forward, the 33-year-old will need to keep learning on the fly as he continues to help the Beermen in their quest to capture the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title.
“So as I continue my life, 'One day at a time.' The journey of year 12 continues…” he said.
Aska and the Beermen seek win no. 3 when they collide with the embattled Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Game time is set at 8 p.m.
