The Blackwater Bossing seized three wins in a row after drubbing the Converge FiberXers in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.
Blackwater raced off to a scintillating first half on the way to a 90-78 win over Converge in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Wednesday, March 6.
The Bossing led by as many as 31 points in the second quarter and never looked back en route to their third straight win in as many games.
The FiberXers, meanwhile, remained luckless in three tries.
Christian David fired three triples to finish with 16 points, five rebounds and an assist for Blackwater.
Rey Suerte added four three-pointers for 14 points, while RK Ilagan and Richard Escoto added 12 points each. Troy Rosario had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
David, Escoto, Suerte and Rey Nambatac spearheaded a 30-14 opening salvo that saw Blackwater drop four three-pointers.
Picking up where the starters left off, RK Ilagan kickstarted the second period with 10 quick points, the last field goal of which was a layup that gave the Bossing a 25-point lead, 40-15, with 9:28 remaining.
The lead ballooned to a commanding 31 points, 49-18, on a James Kwekuteye’s basket at the 6:40 mark which Blackwater sustained for a 58-29 edge at the break.
The Bossing never let up, stretching their advantage to as much as 70-35 as Rey Suerte drilled in his second triple in the third quarter with 6:43 to go.
Converge tried to chip away at the lead as it held the Bossing scoreless in the last 4:08 of the match but it was just too late.
Alec Stockton, Schonny Winston, and Justin Arana were the only bright spots for the FiberXers.
Stockton tallied 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals while Winston chipped in 22 points, seven boards and three dimes.
Justin Arana had 18 points, including four in Converge's last-ditch effort in the last two minutes.
