Bossing around anew are Sedrick Barefiled and Blackwater.

Barefield put up his best game yet as the Blackwater Bossing played spoiler against new import Brandone Francis and the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 123-111, in PBA Governors’ Cup action at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, September 3.

The no. 2 pick of the PBA Season 49 Draft exploded for 32 points, including 17 in the second half, to give Blackwater its second straight win after three successive losses to start the season-opening conference.

Barefield added five assists as the Bossing turned things around in the third quarter with a 39-26 scoring performance.

Phoenix came out swinging in the final frame, cutting a once 19-point Blackwater lead to just five points, 109-104, thanks to a tough Francis basket with 5:07 left.

But Barefield scored five points in a 37-second span to bring the Bossing’s lead back to double digits, 114-104, with under four minutes remaining.

Blackwater then kept Phoenix at bay the rest of the way to follow up its shocking upset against Brgy. Ginebra with another nice victory.

Import George King actually led the way for the Bossing, firing a strong 44 points, to go along with 13 rebounds and four assists. Francis had 45 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in his PBA debut, but it was not enough to secure Phoenix's first win of the season.

Up next for the Bossing are the NLEX Road Warriors on Friday, September 6, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
