It’s no secret that many Filipino hoopers idolize LeBron James—and that includes Barangay Ginebra rookie RJ Abarrientos.

In a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, Abarrientos shared that James is indeed his favorite NBA player.

The former KBL Rookie of the Year praised the Lakers superstar not only for his on-court skills but also for his role as a father figure.

"Wala kong masyadong kailangan i-describe about LeBron. But if you see him playing both on offense and defense, he's so effective. Magaling siya sa basketball but after that, he's a father figure," wrote Abarrientos.

This admiration comes at a significant moment in James’ career, as the future NBA Hall of Famer recently made history by sharing the court with his eldest son, Bronny James.

In a highly anticipated season-opening game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the James duo took the floor together, making LeBron’s dream of playing alongside his son a reality.

The moment was emotional not only for the James family but also for basketball fans worldwide, as LeBron and Bronny became one of the few father-son duos to ever play together in NBA history.

For Abarrientos, this historic milestone adds even more weight to his admiration for LeBron.

The Lakers star has consistently shown that his impact goes beyond basketball, balancing his career with his responsibilities as a father. The opportunity to play with Bronny further cements LeBron’s legacy, not just as a basketball icon but as a family man.

As Abarrientos continues to carve out his own career, his respect for LeBron’s ability to lead both on and off the court is clear.

The young guard’s journey in the PBA mirrors some of the qualities he admires in LeBron—skill, leadership, and the importance of family.
