Ginebra would love to have big man Isaac Go back in its fold when the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup playoffs gets going.
Isaac Go could be back sooner than later.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone said the team is eyeing Go's comeback in time for the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
“We’re hoping Isaac can get back by playoff time or at least activate him for the playoffs. So he’ll be available if he becomes healthy,” said Cone.
With Go out with a knee injury, Cone needed to ask Joe Devance to unretire in the Governors’ Cup quarterfinals against Meralco.
Two years removed from professional play, Devance’s knees started acting up again in the thick of the Gin Kings’ battle against TNT in the Finals.
That’s why Cone and the rest of Ginebra crave for Go’s comeback that will shore up a reed-thin frontline that does not really have much size save for Japeth Aguilar.
“Sometime within the playoffs. He is a valuable tool for us because of his size and he can guard bigger (guys),” said the seasoned mentor.
“Once we take Japeth off the floor, we’re pretty small. That’s the reason why we acquired Isaac, so that we could stay big once Japeth leaves the floor.”

Meanwhile, Jeremiah Gray, who is also recovering from an injured knee, will likely see action in the next conference.
“Miah might take a little bit more time. We’re looking more towards the next conference for Miah,” said Cone.
