5 queens slaying under the radar in PVL All-Filipino Conference

The 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference has been nothing short of amazing.

From thrilling five-set matches to players doing it all for their teams, the league continues to live up to the hype.

This conference is no different as fans now see that talent overflows across the league. The usual stars make the headlines, but there's a long list of volleybelles who have been slaying with or without the fanfare.

Here are five of those queens.

1. Michelle Morente

The PLDT High Speed Hitters have found themselves a gem in Morente. While she is by no means new to volleyball fans, the former Ateneo/La Salle standout has been firing on all cylinders for PLDT, giving them the second-best record so far in the conference.

2. Alina Bicar

Bicar might be one of the more soft-spoken players in the league, but when she’s on the court, her presence rings loudly. The 5-foot-6 setter's outstanding play for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers has been evident throughout the conference.

We can only expect Bicar to elevate her performance further when the playoffs comes along.

3. Mean Mendrez

Like Morente, Mendrez has also been having a stellar conference for PLDT.

Mendrez is currently in the Best Spikers top 10 in the All-Filipino Conference. That says a lot about her skill in putting points on the board for the High Speed Hitters.

4. Kyla Atienza

Even without Alyssa Valdez, the Creamline Cool Smashers continue to be one of the best teams in the PVL.

While most of their success is usually attributed to stars like Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, and Jia De Guzman, Atienza has been as steady as ever for Creamline, playing as one of top diggers in the conference.

5. Isa Molde

It’s been an up and down conference so far for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, but one of the consistent bright spots has been Isa Molde. The former UP Fighting Maroons outside hitter has been delivering the scoring for the Flying Titans.

With Choco Mucho’s postseason hopes hanging in the balance, the team could bank on Molde to help give them one last push.
