Well-deserved awards for everyone.
Tots Carlos added to her growing list of achievements on Thursday as she was named MVP of PVL All-Filipino Conference. It is the third time Carlos won PVL’s highest individual honor, and it might not be the last.
The dynamic, hard-hitting Carlos was among the league’s top performers all conference long, stepping up to fill the void left by the injured Alyssa Valdez and helping lead the Cool Smashers back to the finals.
The former national team member was also named as one of the two Best Outside Spikers of the league this conference, as she was at her fearsome best attacking the net. But the 24-year-old also fulfilled her preseason promise of getting better, showing off an improved all-around game for Creamline.
Carlos was not the only Cool Smasher to receive individual honors for the All-Filipino tilt. Joining her as the other Best Outside Spiker of the conference is fan-favorite Jema Galanza, who was, like Carlos, among the league’s leaders in scoring. The 2019 Open Conference MVP now has three Best Spiker honors to her name.
Other Creamline players who received awards this All-Filipino Conference were Jia de Guzman, who was named Best Setter, and Michele Gumabao, who took home Best Opposite Spiker honors. De Guzman has now won an unheard of eight Best Setter awards, while Gumabao was named Best Opposite Spiker for the second time in her PVL career.
Meanwhile, two Petro Gazz Angels took home individual honors this season, with Remy Palma and MJ Phillips named the league’s Best Middle Blockers. Rounding out the individual awardees this conference was Kath Arado of the PLDT High Speed Hitters, who was named the league’s Best Libero for a second time.
