Lacsina is still getting used to her new role.
The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers are off to a solid start in the PVL Invitational Conference after sweeping newcomers Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
What stood out the most for the Cargo Movers was the performance of Ivy Lacsina, who recently changed her position from middle blocker to outside hitter.
In the victory, Lacsina finished with 13 points built on 12 attacks and 1 block.
While she made it look easy, the former NU Lady Bulldog standout admitted that the transition to being an outside hitter was not easy, especially given that she only had about a month to get used to her new role.
“Hindi siya naging madali lalo na parang kailangan biglaan lahat e, so parang tinyaga ko talaga,” said Lacsina during the postgame interview. “Grabe 'yung mga breakdowns, iyak, pero dahil sa tulong ng coaches and ates ko, hindi talaga ako nila sinukuan.”
Coach Regine Diego has placed her full confidence in Lacsina, and the mentor even sees greater upside in the future.
“Naniniwala ako na there is still more and she has the potential to be one of the best outside hitters in the Philippines,” said Diego. “Hopefully, in the future, she will be one of the best.”
With this breakthrough, Diego is only looking forward to continue playing Lacsina in this new role for the foreseeable future.
F2 Logistics will once again test this retooled lineup, which also featured rookies Jolina dela Cruz and Mars Alba in the starting unit, when they face the Cignal HD Spikers on Saturday.
