The Tornadoes came alive when one of them went down.
The Farm Fresh Foxies had been on a roll on a Saturday morning, getting not just their first-ever set win of the PVL Invitational Conference, but two straight sets at that.
But at the start of the third, Bern Flora of the Foton Tornadoes went down after landing badly on her left leg.
This awakened something in Foton.
"Ipapanalo natin 'to," the Tornadoes said in a huddle, as reported by PVL courtside reporter Kylla Castillo.
And fight they did, resulting in a tight-fought Set 3 which ended in favor of Foton, 31-29.
They never looked back, ending the match, 18-25, 23-25, 31-29, 25-20, 18-16.
Mary Rhose Dapol had a monster game with 28 points, while captain Shaya Adorador had 24.
"Siguro emotional na rin kasi whatever it takes talaga," Adorador said to reporters, becoming emotional after the match.
It was, after all, Foton's first victory of the conference and the club's first win since 2019 after returning to competitive volleyball.
"Ang importante, panalo kami. 'Yun yung iuuwi namin, na masaya kami. Nagawa namin yun kasi nagtulungan kami," she added.
The Tornadoes are out of contention for the semifinals but they can still improve their ranking with a final match against the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on Tuesday.
