She really seems passionate about it.
Athletes are revered for their talents, but fans sometimes forget they are also people who have passions outside of their sport.
On Tuesday night, the Akari Chargers setter Michelle Cobb posted a series of Instagram stories, which served as somewhat of a TED Talk or a highly informative public service announcement. The topic was something that obviously meant a lot to her. In detail, the 24-year-old playmaker explained the importance of responsible pet ownership through spaying.
Spaying or neutering refers to a procedure done to dogs and cats for the purpose of removing their drive to mate and ability to reproduce. This prevents the birth of unwanted kittens and puppies that will eventually roam the streets and other public places. Using her own case as an example, Cobb showed what it truly meant to care for domestic pets.
“Happy International Cat Day,” Michelle opened her post.
She then told the story about her and a village cat she once rescued that she now calls Tuna.
"I originally did not intend to keep her and wanted to release her back to the village once she had recovered from her spay surgery. But here we are now, she's been with us since May."
On her next IG story, the former DLSU Lady Spiker broke down the benefits of having one’s pet spayed, just as she did with Tuna.
“One unspayed female cat, assuming that her offspring remain intact as well, can be responsible for as many as 420,000 kittens over a period of seven years. That’s 420,000 unwanted litters,” Michelle claimed.
Imagine the number of stray cats that will continue to increase. KAPON IS THE KEY TALAGA, GUYS. Male or female, dog or cat, consider kapon for your pets,” she reiterated.
It’s definitely admirable of Cobb to go out of her way and reach out to her co-pet owners. She even invited them to send a direct message to her if they needed more information.
“Feel free to dm me if you have questions about kapon. I can help find low-cost kapon for your pets,” Michelle ended her message.
Give it up for Ms. Cobb, everyone!
