There are different paths to take as a leader. Each has its own results. Now, which one would work the best? And what makes a good leader?

Aby Maraño, Mika Reyes, and Michelle Cobb learned all of that on the path to being PVL captains, as they shared one couch in a heart-to-heart chat with Mela Tunay for "The Lineup," a segment on One Sports' The Game.

Maraño, fondly known as Tyang, has led the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers for a while, and she dished the key to making the team work.

"Dapat makuha mo 'yung loob nila. Susunod sila sa'yo out of respect and love. Hindi dahil takot sila sa'yo. 'Yun 'yung secret recipe," she said.

Mika Reyes has been a pretty chill captain for the PLDT High Speed Hitters, and she values a collaborative approach.

"Sa team, lahat kami kaya mag-lead, hindi kami 'yung isang tao lang susundin. Nag-uusap kami, 'Sige Ate Rhea (Dimaculangan), ikaw dito. Ate Kath (Arado), ikaw dito. 'Yung teamwork ang pinaka-important, lahat kami nakakapag-compromise," she shared.

Meanwhile, Michelle Cobb is still learning the ropes as she leads the very young Akari Chargers. But being a setter helps.

"Ikaw nagmamando sa loob. Mas madali siya, but I feel it's challenging in terms of pagka-HR. Human resource manager talaga," she admitted. "I'm in the road of establishing myself as a captain."

Fun fact: All of them came from the same college team—the De La Salle Lady Archers. All of them know what it's like to win a championship and they all know what it's like to be under the tutelage of Ramil de Jesus, who's also the former coach of F2 Logistics.

And that might actually be the key—learning to follow the best in the industry.

Maraño says many of her teammates, who also came from De La Salle, are actual leaders. And it makes things easier for her.

"Mas madali ang trabaho kasi leaders are really good followers," she noted. "Isang command mo lang, lahat nagco-comply. Mas madali para sa'kin 'yung job 'pag beterano ang kausap."

But Reyes and Cobb also commended Maraño herself.

"Siya 'yung ugat! Sa kanya kami talaga natuto," Reyes said of her former Lady Archers teammate.

"Kahit 'yung sa maliliit na points, (inaalala ko kung) ano ba 'yung na-experience ko before as a follower," Cobb recounted.

The PVL Second All-Filipino Conference will begin this Sunday.
