Coach Jerry Yee basically brought his collegiate squad to the league.
The Farm Fresh Foxies have a simple goal in the upcoming PVL Second All-Filipino Conference, according to new captain Louie Romero.
The Foxies, then a rookie squad in the PVL Invitational Conference, finished 13th out of 13 squads with a record of 0-5 in the pool stage.
Now, with a new tournament on the horizon and the chance to finally notch a victory in the league, Romero and company have a modest mission: Don't finish in last place.
"Hopefully, maiangat 'yung ranking ng Farm Fresh," Romero told One Sports. "Last conference medyo nasa baba tayo."
She may be a rookie captain in the PVL, taking the reins from Cloanne Mondoñedo, but the 23-year-old Romero is not a stranger anymore to taking the lead.
She was the captain of the Adamson Lady Falcons in UAAP Season 85, and she'll be pretty much seeing the same faces in the PVL, only this time they'll be in orange jerseys instead of blue.
"Super excited (ako maglaro). Dapat last conference pa (ko kasali), finally makakalaro na ko," shared the star setter.
There are plenty of chances for Farm Fresh to take a match this time, as the preliminaries will be single round-robin format. And that means the Foxies will take on 11 squads until December 5.
Romero will not only be playing again under former Adamson coach Jerry Yee, but she'll also be leading fellow Lady Falcons such as libero Cae Lazo, outside hitter Kate Santiago, opposite spiker Trisha Tubu, and middle blockers Aprylle Tagsip and Rizza Cruz.
The Adamson-College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers core of Farm Fresh will also be reinforced by new sign-ups, such as outside hitter Justine Dorog, who previously played for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
They will also get extra firepower from former UP Fighting Maroons star and Gerflor Defenders player Alyssa Bertolano.
Farm Fresh will open its campaign in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday against Chery Tiggo at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
