She and Cess Robles helped withstand their foxy opponent.
There were multiple times on Tuesday when the Chery Tiggo Crossovers had to climb out of a hole against the feisty Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
In the first set, it was the Foxies who went first to reach 13 points. But the Crossovers revved up for a 10-1 run to snatch the first frame.
In the third set, a Trisha Tubu play allowed Farm Fresh to take an 18-10 advantage. But again, the Crossovers, playing without MVP Mylene Paat, climbed back.
After the game, Cherry Tiggo's Eya Laure shared what was on her mind when it was her turn to serve during that critical stretch.
"Ipapasok ko 'yung service ko, 'yun 'yung nasa utak ko. Kailangan hindi ako mag-error," she told reporters. "(Kasi) once mag-error ako, mawawala 'yung momentum na nabigay sa'kin."
When Laure got the ball over, Cess Robles did the rest, as they took the driver's seat in the third set and got the sweep, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
Laure, a UST Growling Tigresses legend, created 14 points coming from 12 attacks, one block, and an ace. She credited her coaches for keeping their morale up throughout the match.
"'Di kami pinanghinaan ng loob kasi sila, ang dami nilang nakita na puwedeng makatulong sa amin," Laure said. "We just need to do our best individually at maipakita 'yung teamwork na nagagawa sa training."
Chery Tiggo will next face the Galeries Tower Highrisers this Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
It will be aired live at 3 p.m. on One Sports, One Sports+, and the Pilipinas Live app.
