For a six-game stretch, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers looked invincible in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference. That run was practically what launched them to their eagerly-awaited semifinals appearance. As for the most impressive part of the winning streak, it has to be when Eya Laure led her squad to a massive five-set triumph over the Cignal HD Spikers.

Unfortunately for coach Kung Fu Reyes’ charges, they ran into the more seasoned Creamline Cool Smashers who were able to outclass, and ultimately oust them in two games from the penultimate stage.

Nonetheless, the Crossovers’ campaign in the season-ending tournament can be considered as a huge step towards the right direction. Ending the preliminary round with an 8-3 card, Laure and her talented teammates definitely had more positive moments than negative ones.

Chery Tiggo libero Jen Nierva, who was instrumental in the Crossovers’ surge, went on Instagram on Saturday to express her optimism regarding the team’s future.

“We’ll get there,” she posted.

Perhaps the former NY Lady Bulldogs standout believes that it’s only a matter of time before her crew makes it to a PVL finals and wins a championship. Who could blame her? There have been many instances during the third conference when Chery Tiggo actually played like serious title contenders.

After what they accomplished, it’s only right for Nierva to hold her head high.

Don’t forget, Chery Tiggo had to close out its campaign without Imee Hernandez who injured her knee in November.

When their star middle blocker returns, it’s not far-fetched to see the Crossovers fulfill Nierva’s prophecy sooner than later.
