The Petro Gazz Angels overcame a slow start to pull off the reverse sweep against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Petro Gazz Angels remain atop the standings of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after scoring a stunning reverse sweep against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, January 21.
After looking down and out in the first two sets, the Angels came alive late in the third to pull off the comeback before dominating the fourth frame.
Come the fifth set, Brooke Van Sickle, who played sparingly in the early parts of the match, delivered big time for Petro Gazz, scoring the team’s first five points to set the tone in the decider.
With all the momentum on their side, the Angels pulled away for good to secure their fifth-straight win in the conference.
Petro Gazz now sits with a 6-1 record for the top spot, while Chery Tiggo dropped to 4-3, tied with the idle Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
Myla Pablo was hailed the Player of the Game with 18 points on 15 attacks and three blocks.
Petro Gazz will have a 13-day break before its next game, matching up against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on February 4 at the PhilSports Arena.
