History repeats itself for PLDT in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The High Speed Hitters continued their mastery over the Creamline Cool Smashers, taking down the defending champions in a five-set thriller, 30-28, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 16-14, at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Saturday, February 15.

This marks PLDT’s third straight win over Creamline, dating back to the preliminary round encounters in the 2024 All-Filipino and Reinforced Conferences.

The Cool Smashers’ 19-game winning run also came to an end on Saturday.

Despite the Cool Smashers’ comeback bid, the High Speed Hitters showed their composure in the winner-take-all fifth set.

Down 5-8, the High Speed Hitters went on a 4-1 run to retake the lead, with Kianna Dy scoring her first point since returning from injury.

Leading 12-10, Mika Reyes delivered a huge kill block on Tots Carlos to put PLDT within two.

But Creamline would not go away that easily as Bernadeth Pons tied the game at 13-all.

In the following play, Davison brought the High Speed Hitters to match point before Pons countered to force an extended set.

But Davison would not be denied her career night, putting PLDT ahead once more before Fiola Ceballos denied Carlos to seal the win.

The Fil-Canadian spiker finished with 34 big points.

With the win, PLDT improved to 7-3 in the standings, tied with Cignal and Choco Mucho.

On the other hand, Creamline dropped to second with a 9-1 record, just behind in points from Petro Gazz.

The High Speed will close out its preliminary round schedule against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles next Saturday, February 22 at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.
