Chery Tiggo snatched their third straight win in All-Filipino Conference.
Both the Chery Tiggo Crossovers and the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers came into their match undefeated. But as the game went on, it seemed like the Crossovers was simply hungrier for the win.
They definitely displayed it in their performance, overpowering F2 Logistics to notch a straight-set victory, 25-19, 25-14, 25-16.
Alina Bicar, who finished with 3 points and 20 excellent sets, provided the spark the Crossovers' needed to complete this dominating win.
“Alina is now really showing a lot of heart. I can see the aggressiveness. Hindi 'yan masalita, hindi 'yan expressive,” said coach Aaron Velez.
Team captain Mylene Paat likewise praised Bicar and gave credit to her leadership on the floor.
“'Yung leadership niya kasi kumbaga sa barko, siya 'yung captain namin. Ako 'yung captain ng team pero siya 'yung captain ng game,” said Paat.
The 5-foot-6 setter's outstanding play is not confined on finding her teammates well. Despite her height, the former UST standout holds her own on defense.
And Paat made sure to give Bicar her flowers.
“Short talaga siya, as in short setter. 'Pag once nasa loob siya, hindi namin nafi-feel 'yung height niya,” Paat added.
True to character, Bicar had a few words and was quick to deflect credit. "Nagtulong-tulong lang kami sa loob and nag-enjoy lang," she said.
Chery Tiggo will have a few days off before they again defend their unblemished All-Filipino Conference record against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Tuesday, February 21.
