There’s more work cut out for the La Salle Lady Spikers, according to super rookie Angel Canino.

That after she led the Lady Spikers to a dominant 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 win over UP Lady Maroons in the UAAP Season 85 volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Canino led all scorers with 13 points including a pair of service aces as the Lady Spikers rolled to a second-straight victory in the tournament.

Despite the team’s sterling performance at the Mall of Asia Arena, Canino said there’s still room for improvement.

“Every day may kailangan pa kami i-improve sa sarili namin. Hindi lang skills-wise, kundi characteristics din. ‘Pag sa volleyball hindi lang naman skills. May kailangan pa kami i-improve as a team,” she said.

Coach Noel Orcullo is hopeful the Lady Spikers will be able to sustain this energy coming into the game against rival Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday.

But, like Canino, he also knows there are still lapses they need to address.

“'Wag lang sila umalis sa sistema na ginagawa namin sa training. Sundin lang nila game plan at strategies,” he said.

“Sana ma-sustain, sana dire-diretso 'yung ganung laro although may nakita pa kong lapses. We have to correct pa.”
