UE grab their first opening day win since 2005.
The UE Red Warriors are off to a good start in UAAP Season 86 after an 80-70 victory over the UST Growling Tigers at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.
Emerging star Rey Remogat picked up right where he left off in Season 85 as he led UE’s opening-day victory with 21 points, 10 assists, and 3 steals.
But while many did expect Remogat to contribute as he did for the Red Warriors, it was UE’s foreign student-athlete Precious Momowei who made his presence felt as he finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals.
Fans immediately took to social media to praise the 6-foot-9 big man who showed his potential both on offense and defense.
“Precious Momowei looks pretty good man, he is dominating out there,” wrote user @jepdlim.
Some fans were also left in awe with the moves shown by Momowei against the Growling Tigers.
“Precious Endurance Momowei, welcome to UAAP, my guy! You weren't supposed to move like that,” wrote user @UnikTutpik.
Others, meanwhile, were also impressed with the motor displayed by Momowei throughout the game.
“Precious Endurance Momowei, hustle player,” said @coachgoldstan on Twitter.
Should Momowei be able to keep this type of performance for UE, then there’s no reason why the Red Warriors' can’t be Final Four contenders this season.
