Provido showed her immense potential during the Lady Spikers' opening day route of the Lady Falcons.
Amie Provido certainly was the talk of the town following her impressive performance versus the Adamson Lady Falcons to open UAAP Season 86.
Provido contributed eight points built on six attacks and two blocks as La Salle overpowered Adamson in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.
But more than the points themselves, the 5-foot-10 Provido’s thunderous attacks and blocks pumped up the crowd throughout the match.
Filling in the middle blocker role for the DLSU Lady Spikers is no easy feat, especially given the players that have been in coach Ramil De Jesus’ system.

But this is a challenge that Provido is more than willing to take on.
“Every game nasa isip ko is to deliver and knowing na last season maraming nawala sa amin and hindi madaling palitan ‘yung spot ko,” Provido said during the post-game press conference. “Happy naman ako na nakaka-deliver ko and onti-onting ko naga-gain ‘yung confidence ko.”
And while La Salle’s opening-day domination was proof that they are ready to defend their crown, Provido and the rest of the Lady Spikers are still taking things one game at a time.
“Lagi sinasabi ni coach [Ramil] na one game at a time. ‘Yung championship dadating lang ‘yan kapag pinagbutihan namin,” said Provido.
Provido will look to follow up on her strong performance against the FEU Tamaraws on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2:00 p.m.
