If there’s something that makes a series interesting, it’s bad blood.

And there’s no shortage of it between the UST Growling Tigresses and the NU Lady Bulldogs, as evidenced by their postgame encounter at the end of Game 2 of the UAAP Season 87 Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

With teams traditionally exchanging handshakes and pleasantries after the final buzzer, UST and NU were both up in arms after a heated exchange and players needed to be separated during the school hymns.

Though neither team actually pushed through with anything else apart from choice words and pointing fingers, tension was certainly high after the highly competitive affair.

Both teams were mum about the whole incident — with NU actually declining to do interviews completely.

There has been a lot of history between NU and UST, among the closest of matchups in UAAP women’s basketball.

Last season, the teams were engaged in a shouting match during the elimination round, coincidentally also at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After contrasting results between Games 1 and 2, there is still a lot to compete for between the two teams from Manila.

NU was handed its first loss of the year in Game 2, as the championship series heads into a winner-take-all Game 3 slated on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Last year, UST won Game 3 in comeback fashion to break NU’s 7-peat title reign.
