Falcons AP.Bren took a hard hit during the MPL Philippines Season 13 Grand Finals losing via sweep, but the M5 world champions remain graceful in defeat and now look forward to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup.
While the M5 world champion Falcons AP.Bren lost their MPL Philippines title with a Season 13 Grand Finals loss to Team Liquid ECHO, they are ready to move on, setting their sights for redemption at the 2024 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup.
Losing a title is tough, but acceptance of defeat is part of AP.Bren building a championship-winning mentality.
“That basically boils down to your cultural setting. So from the get-go, kasi sinabi ko na sa mga bata talaga na, and it is deeply ingrained [in] our culture as a team, they really cannot win everything," coach Francis "Ducky" Glindro said, as the Falcons got swept of the MPL Philippines Grand Finals.
"At the end of the day, it’s also deeply ingrained that championships are not won by simply being there at that particular moment. But it’s basically a grind," he added.
Still, facing a loss is tough, especially as players pour their hearts out in winning.
"There would be days na you’ll be losing so bad that you feel like quitting," coach Duckey said.
Despite the ups and downs, the commitment and resilient spirit of Falcons AP.Bren persists.
"If we lost a series, be it in the Grand Finals, it doesn’t matter. It makes no difference. A loss is a loss, but the important thing is how do we bounce back from this, what do we learn, and how do we basically improve our team from those losses," coach Ducky said, taking defeat as an opportunity for growth.
"They would be sad for probably an hour or two, and they’re like ‘babawi kami’ and that’s a really good starting point," coach Ducky added.
As the best MLBB teams around the world brace for the biggest MSC ever, Falcons AP.Bren express their confidence despite the major patch update coming in late June.
“[Naka-prepare] naman kami ngayon kasi tingin ko bumabalik ‘yung assassin meta. Nasa amin din yung isa sa pinakamalakas na assassin player na si [KyleTzy]. Kaya tingin ko [prepared] kami sa MSC,” coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez is optimistic about adapting to patch updates ahead of the MSC.
Falcons AP.Bren have been drawn in Group D for the MSC 2024, along with China’s Xianyou Gaming, North America’s Cloud9, and Myanmar’s Falcon Esports.
