On Thursday, E.A.T. invited several Gilas Pilipinas members to take part in the noontime program’s popular portion, "Babala: ‘Wag Kayong Ganuuun." Among those who participated were Dwight Ramos, Kiefer Ravena, AJ Edu, and Jamie Malonzo. But guess who stole the show?

Well, it was none other than June Mar Fajardo, and he did it by simply being his usual unassuming self. The objective of the segment was to have contestants correctly guess facts about the featured Gilas players. In this case, they were practically asked to identify the number of PBA MVP trophies that June Mar had won.

Of course, all PBA fans know that he has six MVP plums, but the contestants got it wrong as they thought Abai has seven. When it was time to reveal the correct answer, the 6-foot-10 big man was visibly embarrassed. He even refused to say that he’s got the most MVP awards in PBA history.

Here’s how the exchange between June Mar and the hosts, namely Ryzza Mae Dizon and Allan K, went:

Ryzza Mae: How many MVP awards po?

June Mar: Anim po.

Allan K: Ikaw ba ang most awarded MVP?

June Mar: (Shakes his head, and smiles)

He was asked twice regarding his MVP count, and both times, he simply responded with a smile and a look of unease.

To be clear, it is June Mar who has won the most MVP trophies in the history of Asia’s first professional basketball league. He captured six of them in consecutive years, from 2014 to 2019. Trailing him are PBA legends Alvin Patrimonio and Ramon Fernandez who both bagged four.

Anyhow, as humble as he is, Fajardo still mustered enough courage to share his singing chops on E.A.T., after the relentless insistence of the hosts. June Mar did pretty well as he sang a few lines from a Cebuano song.

It wasn’t the first time Philippine basketball superstars guested on E.A.T. And most likely, it won’t be the last. But for now, June Mar and the rest of Gilas must refocus on the more important task, which is to prepare for the FIBA World Cup.
